I didn't learn this from a textbook first.
For years, I assumed the model everyone else was using — think your way to change, plan your way to change — would eventually click for me too. It didn't. What actually worked was getting precise about what was happening in my body, in real time, long before I had any science to back it up.
I started paying close attention. Not in a vague "be more mindful" way — in a granular, almost obsessive way. What does my chest do right before I say yes to something I don't want to do? What shifts in my breath two seconds before I get defensive? Thousands of small experiments, over years, just noticing.
When I came across HeartMath's research later, it didn't teach me anything new about how my body worked. It gave me the data and the language to confirm what I'd already been tracking on my own. That's the order this work happened in for me — body first, science second. I think that's exactly why I trust it.
If you're in Melbourne and want to work on this together, in person or online, here's how I work.
